Back in 2011, I received a call to arrange a group holiday for the DRU Yoga organisation. I had already spent a couple of years looking at their teacher training courses, and could not believe that the school I dreamed of training with had called me. I saw this as a sign. This was my call to action! From Granada, Spain I returned to the UK to begin my teacher training first in Manchester, as part of a group of 30-40 people. There, I slipped back into the invisibility I had mastered at school. I decided to restart the course with a smaller group. In March 2012, I began the DRU Yoga teacher training course in Otley.

This course introduced me to teachers that saw something in me that I could not see at this stage and helped me develop into the embodied yoga teacher I am today. I began teaching classes in Sheffield in 2014, co-hosted retreats in the UK and Crete, shared yoga with large groups at festivals, and worked closely with the Dru Yoga organisation to support teacher training courses. Through nurturing others on their path to becoming a teacher, I received a certificate of excellence for my contributions in 2016.

Yoga has been part of my life from a very young age. At 4 years old, I remember practising the Sun Salutation for my first dance exam. I practised Yoga videos in the '90s, noticing my body becoming stronger and more flexible, and that my focus at work had improved. Throughout my 30s, I feel privileged that Dru Yoga has been my toolkit of practices that I can lean into to support myself and others.

Yoga is finding ease in the body, calming the mind, and releasing tension in order to create a place where the authentic Self can emerge. Through subtle movement, and carefully directed breath we can arrive at a place of stillness - the seat of the self.

Yoga has been a major part of my life. It has helped me to unravel and unwind, and to release both energetic and physical blocks. It has brought me closer to who I am and through teaching, I want to share this gift.

My yoga vibe is about connection. Feeling connected to Self, the Earth, the Cosmos. In my classes, you will be empowered to become the very best you can be. They will bring you into a place of stillness to feel this for yourself.

  • Flow Yoga refers to the styles of yoga characterized by stringing postures (asanas) together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, with a big focus on your breath - your life force. In flow yoga styles you will feel the benefits of lengthening, twisting, balancing, bending, strengthening, reconnecting and revitalising your body and mind. There are several styles incorporated into flow yoga including Vinyasa, Hatha, Ashtanga and Dru yoga, each one it’s own sacred practice and offering something different for the yogi’s body, mind and spirit.

While yoga is an excellent way to keep your body healthy, mobile and strong (especially your core), it is so much more than a form of physical exercise.

The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root “Yuj’ which means to join or unite, and in the old Hindu yogic scriptures the practice of yoga is seen as both a discipline and an art form that connects the individual consciousness with the universal consciousness, meaning we feel more in harmony in our own body-mind-spirit, and that we as human beings remember how connected we are to each other and to the rest of nature.

In a world where we see things in separate categories (body or mind, out-there or in-here, work or rest, them or us etc), that feeling of union is pretty amazing, even if it starts as just a feeling for a fleeting hour on the mat. Yoga is a wholeness practice, for every body and every mind, and that’s also why no one can be bad at it.
