We are excited to grow our ‘pop-up’ offerings of events and gatherings that include sound baths, creative workshops, poetry nights, salsa dancing and singing groups - organised by us, our teachers and collaborators from the local community.

Artist Meetup.
2-3.30pm every 1st Thursday of the month.
Are you an artist in the local area and want to meet other creatives? Does the beauty of the local area fill you with a creative lust & you want to be inspired by how other artists are creating?
Join our artist meetup! This casual gathering is an opportunity for us to connect as a creative community, share ideas, collaborate and be inspired by one another.
Each meetup, we take it in turn to lead a creative class. One meetup, Pip Mactaggart shared her watercolor technique, and on other meetups we painted outside with Samual Rignall, and explored drawing from the imagination with Shaun Friend. Join our artist meetup, share your creative skill or come to enjoy the community.

Bereavement Support Group.
6-8pm every other Thursday.
Join Clear View, a compassionate and supportive bereavement group at Open House who hold a safe space for individuals navigating the challenges of grief. A gathering to provide comfort, connection, and a sense of community during a difficult time. Whether you are grieving the loss of a loved one or simply need a moment to reflect and share, we welcome you to come as you are.

Call of the Wild with Tarisha Seligman.
From 6.30pm on Saturday, 5th April.
Join us on a pilgrimage across the sacred sites of the UK with musician Tarisha Seligman at Open House as she shares with us her most recent creative endeavour 'Call of the Wild'.
Call of the Wild is a sharing of music, images and land song from Tarisha's recent solo adventure from Dorset to the Highlands of Scotland. This musical journey begins at the Peak District 9 Ladies stone circle on Stanton Moor and takes us on a journey up through the UK to encounter sacred sites and wild landscapes, including beaches and stone circles in the Western Isles, the Orkneys and John O’Groats. Each place created a song and story to tell.

Stitch Club.
10-11.30am every 2nd Thursday of the month.
Join the Open House Stitch Club to create, mend and gather together in community.
Bring along clothes to repair, your sewing needles, crochet hooks, knitting needles, for a coffee, knit and chat in the Open House Cafe. Whether you are a keen knitter, have hole-y socks to repair or would like to learn to crochet - all are welcome to join and learn from each other.

Find Your Moai - The Importance of Sharing and Community.
6.30-8.30pm every 2nd Thursday of the month.
Join us in community to share, support, and listen.
Elders in Okinawa, Japan, one of the original blue zones longevity hotspots, live extraordinarily better and longer lives than almost anyone else in the world. Moai, one of their longevity traditions, are social support groups that start in childhood and extend into the 100s.
At Open House we are inviting you to our Community Moai. This gathering aims to provide a safe space for sharing and listening with no pressure, no judgment, and no advice.

Alignment Clinic with Emily Kaye.
6.15-8pm on Friday, 11th April.
Join us for a dynamic yoga workshop where we’ll explore the alignment of common poses, beginning with the fundamentals of Surya Namaskar A (Sun Salutation A). This workshop is designed to help you refine your alignment, enhance your awareness, and bring a fresh perspective to your practice.
We’ll explore various poses using props such as blocks, straps, and blankets to support, modify, and deepen your understanding and experience of each pose. By incorporating props in ways that you won’t have used them before, you’ll be able to feel the precise alignment of each pose in your body. These tools will help you build strength, improve your alignment, and gain a deeper understanding of how each movement in the sequence supports the next.

Kids Yoga with Helen Wilson.
10-11am every other Saturday.
Children's yoga is fun for the whole family! This session is aimed at children aged 3-8 years old but you know your child best, this is a guide age. All abilities and bodies welcome, this is an inclusive session.
We will embark upon a nature themed story to take us on a yoga journey - expect noise, laughter, imagination, fun and calm! Each session has a connection to our current season, weather or moon cycle using yoga to help us learn about the world around us. Subtly incorporated into each session are opportunities for touch/self massage, breathing technique, sound making, floor based and standing poses, relaxation and reflection.

Breathing into the Seeds of Spring with Sophie Kirkton.
7.15-8.45pm on Saturday, 12th April.
Join us for an intimate breathwork ceremony at Open House, facilitated by Sophie Kirkton. This deep meditative practice honors the healing power of conscious breathing, allowing us to become truly embodied and to feel again.
As the earth awakens from winter’s rest, we prepare for a season of growth, renewal, and possibility. Together, let's plant the seeds of intention, using the power of your breath to cultivate clarity, release what no longer serves you, and create space for new beginnings. Just as a gardener nurtures the soil before planting, we will use breath to clear stagnant energy, enrich our inner landscape, and open ourselves to transformation.

Silent Book Club.
1-3pm on Monday, 14th April.

Join us for a peaceful and focused reading experience at our Silent Book Club, held at Open House cafe - where our community gathers, and we have a warming selection of beverages and nourishing food. Bring your own book (there’s no assigned reading!), and enjoy a couple of hours of quiet, uninterrupted reading at your own pace.

Community Network & Collaboration.
10-11.30am every 3rd Thursday of the month.
This gathering is an opportunity to connect with local business people, share what you do, and exchange ideas, support and skills amongst the local community.
Get ready for some great conversations, collaborations, and connections in a welcoming environment. Open House Cafe will be open for coffee and cake!
Craft Your Own Chopsticks: A Hands-On Woodcarving Workshop.
11am-1pm on Thursday, 17th April.
In this exclusive Open House workshop facilitated by professional craftsperson and woodworker Dan Lawrence, participants will delve into the intricate process of chopstick creation, learning about material selection, design principles, and finishing touches. Guided by Dan's expertise, attendees will not only craft their own personalised chopsticks but also gain a deeper appreciation for the raw material and craftsmanship behind these everyday tools.

Resonance of Renewal with Muna Mcadie.
6.30-7.45pm on Saturday, 19th April.
Join us in April for a deeply restorative sound bath experience, aligning with the fresh energy of the season. In a serene space, become immersed in sounds of crystal bowls, chimes, and gongs, designed to help you let go and soak in calmness. As the gentle vibrations wash over you, tension melts away.
Through the resonance of both instrumental and vocal sound, this session provides a deeply immersive experience, allowing the body and mind to settle in a nurturing container of stillness and vibration.

Padley Gorge to Hathersage Litter Pick Walk.
10am on Tuesday, 22nd April.
Come join us for a beautiful, scenic walk through the ancient woodland at Padley Gorge, with a social litter pick along the way. Padley Gorge is a popular destination that often takes a real hit in terms of litter after a Bank Holiday weekend, so our aim is to help clean up after that.
We plan to meet at Open House at 10am, and then catch the 10.46am train to Grindleford. We will make our way up Padley Gorge and back down again, then walk back to Hathersage picking up litter as we go. Anyone is welcome to come along to join us - we have plenty of rubbish bags and are still trying to source some litter pickers, please bring your own litter pickers if you have them!

Sam’s Club.
5:30-10pm on Friday, 25th April.
Join Sam's Club at Open House. A social evening for games, creating, doodling and connecting. Come along and hang out with your Open House community, to relax in the company of friends and others in the warmth and laughter of your Open House home.
Our large tables are here for you to spread out your paint brushes or lay out a board game, choosing from our games selection of scrabble, chess, uno or bring along your own. Join with an instrument, read from the Open House library and unwind with the comfort of others.
Open House Community Kitchen is open and will be offering nourishment with warming food and drinks along with a selection of beer and wine.

Nutrition Masterclass Series with Holly Benson.
6.15-7.15pm on Friday, 25th April.
Join us for a special 3-part masterclass series led by Holly Benson, an experienced yoga teacher and nutritional health coach. Each session explores the powerful link between nutrition, the nervous system, and overall well-being, providing you with practical tools to support energy, mental clarity, and long-term health.
