Events & Gatherings.

Friday Night Supper - Ichigo Ichie.
6.30pm on Friday, 15th November.
Join us for supper as we feast together and treasure the unrepeatable nature of a moment, ‘ichigo ichie’. Ichigo ichie is a concept that translates as "one time, one meeting" or "once in a lifetime".
This Friday Night Supper we are serving a warming, family-style Japanese oden - a Japanese winter stew with fish cakes or mushrooms, tofu and seasonal vegetables simmered in a soy sauce-based dashi broth - grilled purple sweet potato, sesame leek and pickled cauliflower, and a yuzu miso cheesecake to finish.
Ichigo ichie is a reminder to cherish the fact that any moment in life cannot be repeated; even when the same group of people get together in the same place again, a particular gathering can never be replicated, and thus each moment is always a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This shared meal, a conversation, a laugh will never be repeated.
We look forward to having supper together and honouring the preciousness of each moment in community with you.
Breathing into the Power of Community with Sophie Kirkton.
7.15-8.45pm on Saturday, 16th November.
With breath, let's deeply connect and honour the season of Autumn as a season we pause into deep connection.
Join us for an intimate breathwork workshop at Open House, facilitated by Sophie Kirkton. This breathwork practice honours the healing power of conscious breathing. It is a deep meditative practice that allows us to become truly embodied and to feel again.
Together let's deepen our breath, to build our collective energy and to feel the depth of community.
"We will both be present in all our unraveling, make no attempt to get it together for me. If we are together then that is all I need" - David Gate
Pluto in Aquarius: An Evening of Astrology & Self Reflection.
7-9pm on Monday, 18th November.
This event marks one of the biggest astrological transits of the 21st Century as Pluto moves into Aquarius. Join Becky Lovatt and Frit Tam at Open House for an evening of astrology and self reflection as we begin to understand how this transit can offer a portal of change.
Pluto has a 250 year orbit or 'return.' Meaning the last time Pluto moved from Capricorn to Aquarius was in the late 1700's. This is a 25 year period linked to rebellion and revolution within societies across the world. We had the American Revolution, French Revolution and the beginning of the Industrial revolution. A time when the power was returned back to the everyday person. Pluto is heading back into Aquarius now until 2044. This is a once in a lifetime transit to help shift collective consciousness but also begin to understand how we got to this point, again, of rebellion and revolution.
Friday Night Supper - Barbecue ‘n’ Beer.
6.30pm on Friday, 22nd November.
As we enter the colder months and head into winter, we are embracing the elements, lighting the barbecue and cooking outside.
This Friday Night Supper we are cooking a barbecued feast. 'Slap Ya Mama' Cajun-spiced beer can chicken or King Oyster mushrooms, roasted over charcoal, served with classic barbecue sides - grilled corn on the cob, mac n' cheese, smoky baked beans and mash. With barbecued rum-glazed pineapple and Ab’s special house-made ice cream to finish.
Winter has long been a time of gathering and feasting around the fire, so let's cheers to the long nights and feast away.
We look forward to having supper with you!

Lessons from our Ancestors with Sophie Hunter.
2-4.30pm on Sunday, 6th October.
Join us for an afternoon workshop at Open House where through creative reflection and wisdom gathering, you will spend some time thinking about, and then creating your own 'Receipt Book’, using art materials. This workshop will be seasonally focused, giving us an opportunity to gather in what we have learnt this year, as our autumn harvest.
Originally, Receipt Books were anthologies of wisdom, written out by hand and passed from mother (or other female relatives) to daughter as she set up her first home. The tradition died out because these books, rammed full of precious recipes for medicines and living well, were lost with witchcraft.
What would your Receipt Book have in it? What learning have you gathered from this season that will take you through the year ahead? What wisdom have you gathered in your life, or received from your ancestors?
