Are you an artist in the local area and want to meet other creatives? Does the beauty of the local area fill you with a creative lust & you want to be inspired by how other artists are creating?
Join our artist meetup! This casual gathering is an opportunity for us to connect as a creative community, share ideas, collaborate and be inspired by one another.
Each meetup, we take it in turn to lead a creative class. One meetup, Pip Mactaggart shared her watercolor technique, and on other meetups we painted outside with Samual Rignall, and explored drawing from the imagination with Shaun Friend. Join our artist meetup, share your creative skill or come to enjoy the community.

Living on the edge of the Peak District and surrounded by hills, woods and open moorland, Shaun’s work reflects an ongoing fascination with the natural world, and the relationships we have with it.
Drawing and Painting, he creates narratives drawn from the beauty to be found in contradictions and ambiguity - life and death, beauty and decay, strength, and fragility. He enjoys exploring the conflicting and complementing forces of nature, natural forms and the constructs that mark our passing.
Each piece is a story, or an aspect of an unfolding story that writes itself as he works on it. His muses are accompanied in their journey by birds and animals. Often framed by classical and historical reference points and surrounded by flowing lines and natural forms, his work uncovers their ambiguous connections and hidden narratives, exploring how the passage of time shapes the relationship between ourselves and nature.
Painting mainly in oils , he also enjoys exploring ideas in graphite and charcoal. Discovery is a large part of his work, ideas and themes developing over time, often as a “stream of consciousness” rather than clearly defined concepts and objectives. In working through his ideas he relies heavily on his sketchbook where sketches and scribbles take are born before finding life on the canvas.
