Join us for an afternoon workshop at Open House where through creative reflection and wisdom gathering, you will spend some time thinking about, and then creating your own 'Receipt Book’, using art materials. This workshop will be seasonally focused, giving us an opportunity to gather in what we have learnt this year, as our autumn harvest.
Originally, Receipt Books were anthologies of wisdom, written out by hand and passed from mother (or other female relatives) to daughter as she set up her first home. The tradition died out because these books, rammed full of precious recipes for medicines and living well, were lost with witchcraft.
What would your Receipt Book have in it?
What learning have you gathered from this season that will take you through the year ahead?
What wisdom have you gathered in your life, or received from your ancestors?
You may have seen Sophie's Receipt Book on the table upstairs at Open House. A beautiful treasured book of illustrated recipes, quotes and inspirations. Join us in making your own book of wisdom. If you joined Sophie's previous workshop, this is an opportunity to continue your own book reflecting on the seasonal change to Autumn.

Sophie is an experienced artist, producer and facilitator who specialises in working in communities and building reflective practice. She lives in the Hope Valley with her husband, teenage children and two black cats.
“My practice involves creating and holding space for others to imagine, pause, review, reflect and create. I weave spaces where people feel connected, inspired and safe enough to listen - to themselves, to others, to the world around them. My work focuses on the telling of and listening to stories from past, present, and future, and on finding connection between them.”
